The Special Event & ARA Rental Show

Prime Time Party Rental takes pride in the fact that we are constantly learning and expanding our knowledge about the event rental industry. One way in which we do this is buy attending industry related trade shows and conferences. These events are SO incredibly beneficial for us, because it allows our staff to become familiar with the newest and hottest trends, so that we can bring them to you! These shows also give us the opportunity to purchase cutting edge rental items to add to our ever growing inventory!

Back in January, Bart, Jeff, Missy, Amber, and Angie attended The Special Event in Tampa, FL. There, they were able to attend classes which focused on design, event management, wedding trends… and more! One class that was particularly interesting for Amber and Angie was Hot Event & Entertainment Ideas by Michael Cerbelli. They learned all about the newest industry trends for 2012 as well as hot color schemes for this season. The trade show floor was comprised of close to 200 exhibitors, all offering their latest and greatest inventory!

Another show that we recently attended was The Rental Show in New Orleans, LA! Bart was actually a presenter at the event and spoke about our facility and new laundry department!

Chair Cover Sash Ties

One of the most popular rental items for weddings has proven to be chair covers and sashes. We offer a variety of different sized chair covers as well as sashes in hundreds of colors. One common question that we get asked is regarding the different types of ways that you can tie a chair sash. We all know of the common bow, but today’s bride wants something different! And let’s face it, some of us just aren’t bow people Keep in mind that you can also tie those sashes on chivari chairs as well as resin chairs! Below are some of our favorite ties here at PTPR!

The common bow. This is one of the easiest, and most seen styles. You would tie it as if you were tying your shoe. We have found that the trick is to make a small, tight bow and then pull the “ears” out to fluff.

The rosebud. This is a slight variation to the bow that gives a drastically different look. You would start by making that small, tight bow we talked about. Make one of the “ears” slightly larger than the other and then take the other “ear” and pull it through the ear loop. Then, fluff and make your rosebud look pretty.

The flip. Probably the easiest and quickest of the selection. Just make a knot, and then flip the sash over. Easy as pie!

The criss cross.  This one would come second in the simplicity category. You would start by wrapping the sash around the back of the chair and then criss cross the sash in the front. Then, bring it back around and do a flip tie in the back.

The rose. Now this one takes some work. You would start by tying the sash in a knot on the backside of the chair. Then you intertwine the two ends of the sash and wrap them around each other, similar to how you would put a bun in your hair. This one may require some pinning.

The weave. This one is reserved just for those beautiful chivari chairs. You would simply take the sash and weave it in and out of the back of the chair. It is a bit of work, but you get a stunning result.

You can also do any of these ties on a resin chair, in a variety of ways!

These are just  FEW of the many ways that you can tie your sashes. Keep in mind that some fabrics tie better than others. Satins tend to tie the best, whereas organzas are a bit more difficult. If you would like a quick tutorial on any of these ties, you can always stop into our showroom and we would be happy to help! Also, if you want to skip the tying process in its entirely, we can always tie your sashes for you for a small fee

Here Come the….Bridal Shows!

As mentioned in our last blog, we attended THREE bridal shows the first weekend in January. The Dayton Convention Center, Crowne Plaza Dayton, and Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati all put on spectacular shows that allowed us to meet a ton of newlyweds! Then this past weekend, we attended the Cincinnati Wedding Showcase at the Sharonville Convention Center where we met even more brides and grooms! We are truly excited to help start planning 2012 and 2013 weddings! Check out photos from the shows!

Bridal Shows This Weekend!

Bridal Show Season is finally upon us! This weekend kicks off our bridal show tour of Ohio! We have three spectacular shows on tap and cannot wait to meet all of the new brides and grooms! The New Year is right around the corner! With a new year, comes many new brides who begin their wedding planning process. One of the best resources for all newlyweds are the numerous bridal shows that are held throughout the Dayton and Cincinnati areas. At these shows, you can visit with vendors from all categories. From florists, caterers, and photographers, to wedding venues, tux shops and travel planners, you can find just about everything you need to help plan that special day! Five Years Later….

On this day, five years ago, Prime Time Party Rental suffered a devastating tragedy that forever changed the face of PTPR. A fire broke out in our warehouse that consumed almost every rental item that we owned, as well as the building itself.  These pictures can speak for themselves.

Words cannot explain the grief that was felt by the PTPR family during this awful time, but there were still jobs to be done. Customers from all over the Dayton area relied on Prime Time for their rental items, and we are proud to say that not ONE delivery was missed in the days following the fire.  Some of the trucks were preloaded with deliveries and we were fortunate enough to have the the assistance of numerous rental companies in the area, including Kosins Party Rental, One Stop Tool & Party Rental, Lasting Impressions Event Rental out of Columbus,  and The Alleen Company out of Cincinnati.  Thankfully, the building next door to the PTPR warehouse was unoccupied, so we were able to operate from there while the new Prime Time building was under construction. Friends, families and customers also came together to provide support for the PTPR family during this time. We had an outpouring of community support which helped our staff get through the holidays.

Now…five years later, Prime Time Party Rental is bigger and better than we have ever been! Over the past years, we have grown our inventory to over hundreds of thousands of items. Our delivery fleet now consists of close to 20 trucks and we operate in over 40,000 square feet of space. We have shown exponential growth over the past five years, and business shows no signs of slowing.  We’ve come a long way…baby, and hope to move even further in the coming years!

Garage Sale!

The Semi-Annual PTPR Garage Sale is right around the corner! We will have a tent set up outside of our location filled with linens of every color size and style available for purchase! These linens have very slight flaws which keep us from renting them to our clientele, but are more that adequate for everyday use. It will be first come, first serve….so make sure you get here while the selections are HOT!

Mardi Gras Party

This past weekend, PTPR, along with some fabulous vendors, pulled together to put on an extraordinary Mardi Gras Event that was held at the always impressive Taj Ma Garaj.  Purple, greens and yellows were incorporated throughout then entire facility to coordinate this themed birthday party!

Kohler Catering provided delicious food offerings that followed a Cajun theme. From a Seafood Delight station and Jambalaya Cakes, to Crawfish Tartlets and Vegetable Gumbo, the tastes of New Orleans were definitely covered!

Our White Lounge Furniture looked awesome in the facility and gave guests a comfortable space to relax!

 
Music was provided by an awesome band called the Blue Vipers of Brooklyn who flew into Dayton from NY for this special event! Prime Time provided the staging and Entertainment Unlimited provided all of the Mardi Gras spandex and decor.

The tables were decorated with our Nova Swirl linens and satin linens in festive colors. The feather centerpieces were also done by Entertainment Unlimited and the floral centerpieces were provided by The Flower Shoppe.

    

The sweets and treats were provided by two of our favorite bakeries! The Cakery provided an out of this world Mardi Gras cake and Ele Cake Company provided mini cupcakes and brownies

New Tent Lighting!

We have recently added another option for lighting our tents! In addition to our lanterns, chandeliers and globe lighting, we are now offering C7 lighting.  This type of lighting is similar to those big Christmas bulbs that you see around the holidays, but they only come in white

This is a tent job at Benham’s Grove where the client chose to string the lights from the center poles of this 40×80 tent.

You can also chose to run the lights solely around the perimeter of the tent or you can get a bit crazy and do both the perimeter AND the center poles.  These lights can also be connected to a dimmer which will allow you to control the amount of light they give off.

We offer the c7 lighting in 3 different sizes. We have 25′ strands which rent for $15.00 each, 50′ strands which are $30.00 each and 100′ strands which are $60.00 each.  Be sure to add them to your tent order today!
